Tech Gifting

Our Tech Gifting Programme is dedicated to bridging the digital divide within our communities.

We understand that access to technology is essential for education, accessing health and benefit services, employment, and social connection. Our programme refurbishes donated laptops, desktops, and other devices, giving them a new lease on life. We gift 20% of these refurbished devices them to individuals and families in need.

Through this initiative, we aim to empower people by providing the tools they need to succeed in today's digital world. Recipients of our Tech Gifting Programme gain access to vital online resources, educational opportunities, and the ability to stay connected with loved ones.

We collaborate with local charities, education establishments and community groups to identify those who would benefit most from these resources and to ensure our efforts have the greatest impact. Please note that we cannot gift directly to individuals; instead, you need to contact a community group for a referral. Below is a non-exhaustive list of the community organisations that we work with.

Our programme promotes sustainability by diverting electronic waste from landfill. By refurbishing and reusing devices, we reduce the environmental footprint and support a circular economy.

Our Tech Gifting Programme is funded through funding applications, generous donations of money and devices. Financial contributions allow us to purchase necessary refurbishment materials and cover operational costs, while donated devices provide some of the components and hardware needed to make this initiative possible. We welcome both types of donations and value the crucial role they play in our mission.

If your organisation is interested in collaborating with us to support those in need, or if you would like to donate money or devices, please get in touch at hello@edinburghremakery.org.uk.

Together, we can make a significant difference in our community, promoting digital inclusion and sustainability.
